Importance of Good Notes

Taking good notes is a very key part to journalism. When interviewing a person, it is very important to right down exactly what they said in quotes, that way there is no confusion on what the person was trying to say when you place the quote into your story. Paraphrasing what somebody said may help you write down the information quicker but it could lead to the reporter not getting the correct message from the person they are interviewing. When gathering information about a topic or story it is essential that a person writes down exactly what happened, who they got the information from, and why they got the information. That way they can credit their source, know who the information came from, and what made them ask that specific person or group those questions. Taking good notes in general is a key part of life, work and school and it makes gathering information a lot easier and makes that information more credible and on point.
