Public or Citizen journalism is extremely essential to the ways people communicate and get information out to the world. It is often non-acknowledged sources that break major stories to the public. I was watching channel 7 news New England the other day and they posted a tip line for viewers/civilians to call or text with news or story ideas. The legitimacy of citizen journalism is something that may be difficult to call credible. Wikipedia, is one the most popular forms citizen journalism, as it allows anybody with a computer to go on and post stories and news based on their own bias. My personal opinion on this matter is that it is something that is essential to our society in form of communication and getting stories and news out to the public, but its lack of credibility creates problems for the accuracy of the story and what information is fed to the public.
